2011 Summit a Huge Success

The Ninth Annual Neighborhood Summit on April 2, 2011, at the Cintas Center saw over 500 residents participating in workshops and discussions about the City's future. Community representatives discussed projects they've initiated to make their neighborhoods sfaer, more attractive and more cohesive.

Luncheon keynote speaker Mitchell J. Silver, AICP, Planning Director, City of Raleigh, NC, and President Elect, American Planning Association, told of challenges now facing cities in their planning and new solutions they're finding.

Shelley R. Poticha, Director, Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, spoke to a large crowd at the kickoff dinner the preceeding evening and present a $2 million check to assist the City in building its land development code.
