HOW TO GIVE A DESCRIPTION

A. PERSONS
1. Sex
2. Race
3. Complexion --(dark, light, pockmarked, unusual scars, etc.)
4. Age -- if unknown, estimate
5. Height -- estimate in two-inch blocks; for example, between 5'8" and 5'10".
6. Weight -- estimate in blocks of ten pounds; for example, 130-140 pounds.
7. Build -- large, medium, small, stocky, fat, slender, or thin. Also, any distinguishing features on parts of body (i.e., tattoos, eyeglasses, etc.)
8. Hair -- color, thick or thin, balding or full, sideburns.
9. Mustache or beard -- describe, including color and style (fumanchu, van dyke, etc.)
10. Clothing -- type, color, style. Start at the top and work down (hat, coat, shirt, pants, shoes).
11. Method and direction of escape -- on foot, vehicle, bicycle, etc.

REMEMBER: Give as complete and accurate description as soon as possible. Do not make up or add things you are not sure of.

EXAMPLE
Male, white, ruddy complexion, approximately 45 years old, between 5'6" and 5'8", 150 to 160 pounds, medium build, gray hair, thinning on top, long sideburns, brown handlebar mustache. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, no coat, white shirt, dark pants and sneakers. Last seen running north on Main Street toward Central Parkway.

B. VEHICLE
1. Color
2. Make and year. If year is unknown, estimate newer or older model.
3. Body type --(sedan, two-door, convertible, station wagon, four-door, pick-up truck, van)
4. License number -- specify state, if possible.
5. Exterior attachments or damage -- dented trunk, CB antenna, etc.

EXAMPLE
A black newer model Plymouth, four-door sedan, New York license number YD312, with spot light on driver's side and large dent on rear passenger side.

C. ESCAPING VEHICLES
1. Color
2. Make and year (as above)
3. Direction of travel, what street is it on, what cross street is it approaching; give directions if known.
4. Body type (as above)
5. License number
6. Exterior (as above)
7. Number of occupants and description

EXAMPLE
A black, newer model Plymouth traveling north on First Avenue approaching East 13th Street. One male, white, fair complexion, 18-21, 5'8" to 5'10", 160 to 170 pounds, wearing blue jeans, sport shirt, no hat.
