Invest in Neighborhoods Inc.

Invest in Neighborhoods Inc. is a nonprofit organization created in 1982 to promote and assist the 51 community councils that represent the neighborhoods of Cincinnati, Ohio. Our mission is to assist the councils with financial resources and to promote self-sufficiency and leadership skills of the councils and their residents.

We do this through a variety of programs and activities:

Neighborhood Support Program: We administer this program, which provides grants of up to $7,000 a year for each community for a variety of community building projects, for the City.
NBD Support Program: We administer this program, which provides grants of up to $9,000 a year to neighborhood business districts for a variety of support projects, for the City.
Neighborhood Fund: This perpetual fund generates significant income that is divided among member community councils on an annual basis.
Merit Grant Program and Endowment: This privately funded program annually awards competitive grants for outstanding proposals through a peer review process.
Technical Assistance and Leadership Development: We provide assistance on a daily basis to community councils for their regular operations. We also collaborate with other agencies to assure that a plethora of leadership development opportunities are available to the councils.

NSP Training
Our next training session for NSP will be at 7 pm Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Invest office. This comprehensive course walks through the steps to select projects, complete the application for a successful submission and properly submit vouchers for reimbursement. All NSP managers who have not attended training for at least two years are required to attend. We strongly advise each neighborhood have a second person conversant program requirements too.

Quarterly Member Meeting
As requested by members at the June annual meeting, Invest in Neighborhoods is re-instituting quarterly meetings for community leaders. The next will be at 7 pm Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Invest office. Topics to be discussed include strategies for winning increased NSP funding, a request for a City policy that developers work with neighborhoods when proposing low income tax credit rehab projects, and a brief visual display of recycling successes across the city.
